"Hey Michael?" I asked. "Have you ever wondered why it took me so long to ever speak to you? Or even acknowledge you were trying to talk to me?"
"Yeah, I thought that was kind of weird," he laughed. "You seemed really friendly to everyone else."
"Yeah," I drunkenly giggled back. "The first time you got close enough for us to converse I was on LSD and tripping BALLS, and then this strange man comes over and starts trying to touch me. You freaked me out, man."
He just smiled back and shrugged, sending us both into a fit of laughter. He was an odd man, with questionable fashion sense and very few personal boundaries, but he was beautiful. An awkward ugly duckling who had found his true happiness in life - massaging people - and the perfect beach filled with people equally as strange in their own ways to encourage his blossoming. I might never see Michael again, but whenever I'm in yoga class and get into table top position, I will think of him with a smile... and a cringe.
