For a moment, I had considered telling Adam about the creepy guy in my english class, but by this time, Mr. Baker was already discussing conjugations and tenses. I pursed my lips before pulling out a piece of binder paper and ripping it in half. I wrote, Something weird happened in English today. When Mr. Baker had his back turned I handed the sheet to Adam. I watched him open it, read it, look towards me wearing a confused expression, and then finally, reply, sending it back to me moments later.

What happened? he had written, in his unbelievably neat handwriting.

I wrote back, this sketchy looking guy was staring at me today. I've never seen him before. It was really creepy the way his eyes were just glued onto me. You probably shouldn't let me go anywhere alone until we figure out what his deal is. He would think I was joking. Was I joking? I guess I was in a way, but part of me was very concerned about the stranger in my english class. I could picture his face, hard and emotionless. Everything about him was very dark. He had dark eyes, dark hair, even slightly olive skin. His entire appearance screamed bad omen. Good thing I wasn't superstitious.

I handed Adam the note. He smiled and replied. Okayyyy, Whit. I'll protect you. That is weird though. Maybe he was just captivated by your beauty. ;) he had written. I rolled my eyes.

Hardy har har, was all I wrote. The conversation ended there and I was back to listening to spanish grammar laws. Halfway through class we did a speaking activity with partners. I approached the topic with him again.

"But have you seen him at all before?" I asked Adam, mumbling something in spanish to him as Mr. Baker passed by. We weren't allowed to speak English in class, but I didn't know anyone who actually obeyed that rule.

"What did he look like again?" Adam asked, sounding a little annoyed and exhausted by the conversation. I sighed.

"Black hair, brown eyes, medium build, gray hoodie, olive skin," I told him once more. I could tell he was growing bored with the topic of the stranger.
