The poison tip of his toungue flickered close to my nose. The smell of charred animal bodies filled the air making me want to gag. I laid on my back facing the dragon. His yellow eyes and sparks of other colors in them. They were hurt and deep with anger. Scars traced his massive body. A few of his gleamining purple scales seemed to be missing here and there from battles he recently fought in. The open skin looked soft and smooth, vunerable.
His deep growl commanded my attention back to his face. It wasn't fightening but it was powerful. His age commanded respect and fear.
"Why are you here mortal human?!" His toungue flicked again. I tried to calm my racing heart and collect my thoughts from his beauty and terror.
"Oh, Great One of the Immortal Realm, I'm here on business from the High Priest. A message!" I laid still as he went over my words in his head.
"Then deliver your message for it will decide whether you become my lunch or not." He didn't move away but pushed closer to my body.
"The Golden Star has risen and the others are falling." I repeated the message word for word. I had no idea what it had meant. I checked the stars over my travel to the Immortal's Temple, but there was not a single golden star and the others seemed to remain in place.
A puff of smoke filled my face as the dragon made another growl. My message didn't please him, that was clear. I started to fear for my life. He remained montionless for a couple of seconds before pushing off the ground and landing with a loud thump a few feet away.
"Be on your way." I sat up in disbelief, but I had to do the rest of my mission.
"I have more, The High Priest request that I remain with you. It was suggested that I may be of use."
"How could a mortal be of use to me?" The dragon scoffed. "Very well than, if the High Priest suggests it than it must be so." He was talking more to himself then to me.
