It's Saturday again. This time, it's particularly gloomy and there's a moderate amount of rain coming down. I'm not complaining of course. I really do love the rain as much as I dislike hot, sticky, sunny days. I sincerely believe I live in the wrong country. There is nothing wrong with having 2:03PM look like nightfall.
In other news, I took a sick day yesterday. I came down with the flu this past Wednesday, which was probably triggered by being up and active from 5AM to 10PM. I did something that I haven't been able to do in roughly three years; I took naps. I kept dozing off yesterday while listening to the audio book of Neil Gaiman's 'The Graveyard Book". It wasn't boring at all, but I suppose there's a part of my brain that's wired for all things old-fashioned. I was never read any bedtime stories as a child because I preferred reading them myself but now I can see why it's used as an aid for sleep. Having a soothing (and as a bonus, English) voice read you a story written for children yet is wildly inappropriate for anybody below the age of 15, is such a delight. I got the pleasure of feeling drowsy, having my senses shut down one by one, with my hearing as the last to go. I woke up in time for dinner, which I had with my father and soon after, I went back to my room to watch TV and go back to bed. You see, Daddy Dearest has ordered me to do nothing but sleep and eat this weekend. Who am I to interfere with his orders? Daddy knows best, after all. About 30 minutes after I went back to my room, my brother arrived with more food. Even better, food that he knew I loved: some sticky, glutinous delicacy I've been obsessed with ever since I was a little girl. So back to the dining area I went, and proceeded to eat a second dinner.
So, there. I'm resting and it feels fantastic. I've been told that I needed to take a bit of a break because the exhaustion is showing on my face. I'm only 24 and goodness, that is most definitely a bad thing. On today's agenda: eat, sleep, repeat. Weekends, what would I do without you? Oh, I know. I'd faint, shatter my skull, and ultimately die a little sooner than I'd like. Happy siestas, everyone!
