I am an artist. My art is transient. I work in the medium of women, motion, rhythm, emotion, energy and elements. None of which hold still or can be held. I can't stand to do the same thing twice. Every now and then a (wonderful) photographer enters my world and captures a moment and gives my art the gift of permanence if not immortality. My art pays poorly. It is misunderstood even maligned. It has moments of transcendence/transcend-dance...and even more rarely magic. I live for this, for the circle that makes it and the hope that a single moment might be captured or understood.
Technique...technique is oft my frustration. Technique is lovely. Interesting. Beautiful. Wonderful. But never "magic". It can be fun, funny, sexy, impressive, ridiculous...but never "magic". Technique by it's very nature is unable to transcend. It is earth-bound, show-off, controlled-not-abandoned, come-on let-your-hair-down-and-show-ME-what's-next. YAWN. Do it again. And again. And 100 times again. And a 1000 times again. At 30,000 it's in your muscle memory and your spine lengthens and your mind wanders and you have arrived.
Apparently I am a frustrated artist. Who isn't?
There will always be someone younger, skinnier, prettier, limber-er, wilder, cooler than me. And also than you. Does kindness count? Should it?
Sweet has become a almost an insult...almost a dirty word. Why does it piss me off to be called sweet. I don't react to "kind" the same way. Sweet and pretty. Sweet and pretty. Wild Sweet Orange doesn't piss me off...but sweet and pretty does. It sounds vacuous, ineffective, idiotic, shallow.
Wild...why do I like this? Abandon. Yes. Freedom. Independence. Break the rules. YES!!!!!!! Break the mold. Break something...with a sledgehammer. YES! Girls don't get to break things with sledgehammers...it's therepeutic! It's fucking AWESOME! We break things...hearts, friendships, trust...this is not therepeutic. What is the opposite of therepeutic? How do you spell this stupid word? When is one page finished?
