A worm didn't have the power or skill to kill Dallas outright. It would instead rely on its endurance, which would allow it to continue the attack for hours, if necessary. Dallas knew all of this. Had fought more than a few worms over the past few years. He knew the only way to survive an attack was to kill the beast quickly. The worm continued its circular path, Dallas following it. A moment of thought and another moment to assess the risks led Dallas to a plan; albeit, a dangerous one. He stopped circling, allowing the worm to continue its path, unwatched. It continued for a few seconds, likely considering its own move.
A crack from behind. Dallas spun to face it. The beast bit into his shoulder and slammed into the ground. Without hesitation, Dallas rammed both of his swords into what passed for the creatures head. The worm released his shoulder, letting out a guttural roar. Dallas shoved the blades harder, attempting to pierce the muscle tissue which surrounded and protected the worm's brain. He rose to his knees, attempting to gain more leverage. A blow to the back stunned him into releasing his grip on both swords. The worm had forced its tail out of the ground behind him, using it to double the offensive. The creature's head shook violently dislodging the left sword but the right was too deeply embedded.
Dallas rolled to the side, narrowly avoiding a second strike from the tail. The worm lunged again, aiming for his legs in an attempt to immobilize its prey. Dallas rolled to side and withdrew one of the two guns he had strapped to his back. Three shots to the creature's head caused it to recoil in anguish. He stood, firing three more shots. Dallas rushed forward, jumping over the creatures tail. He rolled as he landed, picking up his sword as he did so.
Meanwhile, the beast had managed to dislodge his other sword. The creature struck once more with his tail, aiming for Dallas' legs. Dallas slashed a gash into its side, causing it to recoil. The worm roared in fury once more and lunged, head first, at its prey. Dallas stepped to the side and flipped his blade around. Just as the creature's head passed where Dallas was, he stabbed downwards, impaling the worm. It flailed about, desperately trying to free itself.
