There are three things that annoy me the most about today's generation: one, everyone dresses like they're advertising, two, three-quarters of today's high school students don't believe in school whatsoever, and three, they are murdering a perfectly good English language. It's hard enough as it is with cell phones and the ridiculous "text talking" and poor choice of clothing, society doesn't need people who grow up and can't speak proper English let alone read a book more than five pages long. It angers me to see that most children these days don't have the drive to actually practice their reading skills when they learn them. I learned most of my vocabulary through reading books that are more than three-hundred pages long. Of course most of my reading was encouraged by my parents. My mother and father had me reading books with them almost every night until I was old enough to read on my own. When the Harry Potter books came out, we took turns reading chapters every night before bed. It's important for people to learn through reading because their vocabulary makes them sound more intelligent. The more intelligent a person sounds, the better a chance at getting hired for a job they are. Literacy is an important thing this day in age. Most jobs require a minimal amount of reading skills to be able to follow a work schedule or follow instructions. If someone can't read, they aren't useful and are just dead weight on the economy. It sounds harsh, sure, but when you think about it a different way, it makes perfect sense.
My cousin was telling me the other day that she was having a hard time writing in normal English when she had been using her "text talk" for every thing else she wrote. She explained to me that she almost wrote a full credit paper in that abbreviated monstrosity of a language. It really annoys me that most people cannot fathom the ability to text using complete words and sentences. It makes me really sad that people are creating writing and speaking habits that may eventually grab hold of society like evil roots of a gnarled tree.
I have a hard time finding some real keepers in today's day in age. I have a few real good friends but when I look at everyone else, all I see are empty seats because none of them have any interest in anyone but themselves. At least someone in this world is selfless and it's not just me. It's those dearest to me. I would go to any of my good friends at the drop of a hat and I would be right there to pick it up and give it to them. I don't see much of that today. I see kids who are friends because they may know someone who they think is hot or someone who just sparks their interest from personality similarities. The kids I deal with in high school today don't even so much as to say "bless you" when someone sneezes. It's the entitlement and the babying that is so prevalent in high school teaching today that is really
