The Earthly Delight
There has always existed a certain element of materialism that pervades our modern society. I have witnessed such unscrupulous behavior that permeates even the most sacred institutions such as the local parish, when individuals are required to be attentive and remain engaged in the information contained in the sermon and other discussions appropriate to the proceedings of the Holy Mass; they would be more content to simply ponder and observe their surroundings and muse about their apparel. I also admit of being culpable to this minor infraction, as my attention span dwindles periodically. There exists the possibility of my mistaking egocentric behavior for mere humanistic nature; however, that discussion/perspective is not pertinent to the matter at hand, and shall subsequently be relayed towards a later occasion. Nevertheless, I have observed countless times the look of veritable euphoria individuals possess when the tactility of a novel product or purchased item comes with contact with their being; that the tranquility of their mental state is controlled by factors not pertinent toward one's metaphysical nature. Although these products obtain diminutive sentimental value; far too often it is we who misappropriate the sentimental value or regard more than is necessary towards an object of inorganic quality.

Our contemporaneous society is one primarily characterized by a mindset of consumerism; we constantly act upon our urgent desire for something tactile; something to distract the senses from the monotony of daily life.

In my personal opinion, it is the irreplaceable that is ultimately substantial; what cannot be purchased or acquired by meager humanistic means, but bestowed by some external quality at which the substance is not always immediately discernible nor conspicuous; one cannot go to an establishment by means of transportation and purchase this item.

Individuals should not entirely depend on earthly delights to stimulate this feeling of euphoria, when it is the unrecoverable that is of the utmost importance.
