Frost walked straight to the head of the table at the far side of the room, releasing her hand as he pulled out his chair, and Sparrow lingered beside him, frowning with her arms crossed over chest. He hesitated, glancing back at her. "Something wrong?"
"Isn't there some kind of social significance wrapped up in sitting at the head of the table?" she asked, even as she dragged back the chair in front of her and sank down into it.
"And that bothers you?"
Sparrow shrugged. "I didn't say that, did I? I'm just pointing it out."
"If it bothers you, Sparrow, I can move."
She just rolled her eyes, and after a moment, he relaxed in the chair, apparently satisfied that she really wasn't upset. "What time is it?" she asked after a moment. It had to have been at least an hour or two since she'd been staring at the clock, waiting for Hyde to return.
Frost glanced down at his handheld. "Almost five. I've already sent German a message, so he'll know to bring dinner here instead of the suite. He should be here soon. In the meantime, now that we're done with today's unpleasant surprise, perhaps we could focus on something a bit less... stressful?"
"Such as?"
"Last night."
Sparrow barked out a laugh. "That's your definition of less stressful?"
He raised a brow. "Actually, last night was my idea of stress relief. I take it you don't agree?"
She ignored the question, knowing there was no good answer. "What exactly is there to say about it?"
"How about: did you enjoy yourself?"
"I thought I made it pretty clear last night that I did, yeah."
"Perfect. When do you want to do it again?"
Sparrow shook her head disapprovingly. "Already?" she asked. Why was she even surprised?
"Is there some reason to wait?"
She hesitated. 'Because I don't want to do it again.' was likely not a response he'd appreciate, and at this point, she wasn't even entirely sure it was true. She wasn't lying when she said she'd enjoyed herself, no matter how much she wished she was; and if Simon really didn't mind, perhaps...
