5/7/14 I was behind the front desk when a girl I didn't recognize asked me for an unlock code. I asked her what her room number was, but like some people, she couldn't remember. She tentatively added, "Maybe 112?" I told her that that was impossible because only males lived on the first floor. She shook her head adamantly. A little curious, I asked her to show me. I walked with her to the hall door and swiped it open, but when I turned around she wasn't behind me. She was stepping into the open door of the chaplain's apartment a couple feet away. Now entirely mystified, I followed her into the familiar room and then down a hallway that was completely new to me. As I walked it seemed to get grander, with taller ceilings and more marble. I distantly remember thinking, "How could this fit in the building? Wouldn't this be where the front desk is?"
I realized that I wasn't following the girl anymore, and I came to the end of the hall which had two doorways, like a crossroad. I took a gander and went into the room on the right. As I entered I was astounded by the grandeur. I was greeted by a whole wall across from me filled with windows that stretched from the floor to the ceiling. There were skylights above them too, filled with blue sky and dappled green shadows from a nearby tree. In the opposite corner was a king sized bed which the girl sat on. "Like it?" she said cheerfully. I turned my eyes back to the windows. Then I noticed that the panes below the skylight didn't show the outside I expected, but a sunny desert scene with sand dunes and ancient ruins of stone columns half sunk into the sand. It was strange, to see the two types of windows showing contrasting places. I turned back to the girl, the question on my tongue. She beat me to it. "That's where I like to daydream. We had the picture put on the wall like it was a big window and sometimes I just sit on my bed and pretend I'm there." She leaned back, putting her arms behind her head with a pensive look on her face. Awkwardly, I stood for a moment. Looking back to the fake window, I said, "Wait! I think I see someone behind that dune!" The girl jumped into my make-believe quickly. "He must be a raider sent to steal the jewels from the secret passage under the old temple! We should alert the people of the desert at once with sunlight signals from these mirrors."
We played together in this way until I was ready to go. As I left her room I realized I was suddenly wearing roller skates. I rolled into the room on the left and entered another bedroom. This time there were two beds among the windows and ornate wall decorations. Unsteadily, I went to the first one and realized that it had a large cake sitting on it! I figured it was a welcome present for someone staying there, so I quickly skated to the other bed just so I wouldn't slip and accidentally ruin the cake.
