The Broken Fairytale. Part 1
“It would only be a matter of two days until her kingdom becomes my kingdom and my kingdom becomes her kingdom. Her castle my castle and mine hers. It will only be a matter of time.” Jared said anxiously with excitement twinkling in his eyes.
“Until then,” The king let out a hearty laugh “you must wait, my son.”
Jared’s grimace was visible. “Waiting is the part I hate the most. Tomorrow night seems like eternities away.”
“You are still young Jared, and you have lots to learn.”
“Yes, yes father. But must I learn them now? I wish to speak to mother and the royal event planners about tomorrow night’s engagement ball. Naturally everyone in the entire kingdom will be attending and surely there is much to be done.”
The king let out another hearty jolly laugh, and with a dismissive wave of his hand Jared was bounding down the palace corridor with such speed he didn’t hear his father say “Very well then.”
Me again, the narrator, I know we were just in the middle of our palace tour and there are probably more magnificent things to be seen within the palace walls, but may we continue our little tour later? My mind cannot help thinking about Annie. Chances are she is really disliking this idea of the Prince’s bash.
***
Annie lives on the outskirts of the Kingdom, near the mountains of the east coast. She just moved here about two years ago but one thing is for sure, she hates the royal family. She hates everything about our Kingdom Evallion. She really is an alright girl… once you get to know her. She’s just- she’s just Annie. You will see when we get there, her cottage is that one there, right across the brook.
“Ana” that was Annie’s mother’s voice seeping through the thin wooden walls of the cottage. She sounds stressed. “then how about the magenta?”
“No thanks mother.” And that was Annie. Her words were cut short, the way they usually were when she was about to lose control of her temper.
“Then Aquamarine.” Her mother pleaded. “Aquamarine would look just darling on you dear.”
“No, again. I simply do not like that dress.” Although her words were lighthearted, I could hear the frustration underling the sentence. But maybe it’s just me, maybe I know Annie a little too well.
