shortly after the onset of his disorder, in the form of - well, something.
Delighted, the cruel Doctor continued his experimentation with renewed fervor, mostly on Experiment 19. Through some borderline-lethal circumstances, Ian became able to use this new found ability of his as he desired. His defense mechanism had become, over the course of a few years, a supernatural ability of sorts, which was just what that Doctor wanted in the beginning. Needless to say, Ian- er, Experiment 19 grew increasingly distrustful of his orders and their sender. Fed up, 19 escaped his captivity in September of 2006 in a blaze of glory (or something like that). 19 made it to the Capital, somehow, and was immediately admitted into joint custody of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the National Security Agency (NSA).
Convinced of the experiment's memoirs and narratives (I suppose?), he was sent out under their care to find out more about the Doctor's operation, as well as perform reconnaissance and intelligence-gathering for them. In his off time, Experiment 19 was given schooling, which he easily passed with flying colors (12 years of curriculum in just over 2 years), over the course of which he remembered more and more of what he had done and what had been done to him for the first 16 years of his life, further fueling his desire to bring the Doctor, the heartless soul, to justice by any means necessary.
On Valentine's Day, 2009, Experiment 19's wishes were granted, but for a price. Leading a detachment of Special Forces troops, the Doctor's laboratory, which turned out to be somewhere in Canada, was stormed without hesitation and mercy. In the aftermath, the Doctor was lying dead at 19's feet. His death was not part of the plan, and the experiment, after freeing most of the other experiments, was dishonorably discharged. The division he was a part of was blacklisted, and all traces of him and the Doctor in question were removed from the very face of the earth. In Experiment 19's debriefing, he fervently declared his innocence, but, of course, not a soul in attendance bought his testimony.
The story doesn't end there, of course. Afraid of what this powerful experiment might do in retaliation, the government swore to give him a house and steady income for the rest of his life, but only if he took care of one of the remaining super-soldier projects: Experiment 13, a (biologically, not chronologically) 15-year old yet-to-be awakened from his seemingly endless slumber. A kid named Set. Me.
