Ed was running along the edge of a cliff. First he was running, but then he was falling. When he landed he saw a snake 30 feet long and four feet wide. He was frozen with fear. The snake came closer and closer. It reached him and wrapped around him. Then he heard a beeping. He woke up, panting. His alarm clock was still beeping. He turned it off and looked at the clock. Seven fifteen. He got up and got dressed in a light blue shirt and jeans. He was making his bed when the smell of bacon and eggs wafted up to him. He finished making his bed and went down stairs. Ed went outside to get the paper. As he opened the door, he felt the morning breeze and thought “I can’t wait to get this day started.” He went back inside and started eating his breakfast. He cleared his dishes and put his homework inside his backpack. The homework was to write a two page story about anything, but it had to be fictional. He checked his watch. Seven thirty seven. Ed ran out the door and along the sidewalk to the bus station. When the bus pulled up, Ed got in and sat in the back left corner of the bus. It was where he always sat because the back of the bus was quiet. As the bus rumbled away, he saw a creature that looked like a raccoon, but it was purple and green, and instead of ears, there were two blue spikes with yellow tips. It stared at him for a moment longer, then it disappeared. “Strange” thought Ed “I didn’t think there is an animal that looked like that. It must have been my imagination.” When he got to school, he put his stuff in his locker and went to math. Math was boring to Ed. Because he was really good at math, they were teaching him things he already knew. When he looked out the window, he saw sunflower turn pink for a few seconds. "I didn’t get enough sleep” he decided “That’s why I’m seeing things.” When Ed got home he opened the front door and went inside to get a snack. Usually his mom was there to greet him but she wasn’t waiting to greet him in the kitchen. “Mom?” he called uneasily. “Are you there?” Ed went downstairs and looked in all the closets and rooms in the basement. He went and searched the upstairs level. He searched in all the bedrooms and bathrooms. Ed was getting panicked. His mom was gone and he was seeing strange things. Ed wanted to check the attic but he had never been in there before. The attic door was a little door on the wall. Ed opened the door and stepped inside. The attic was dark and had a musty smell of burnt leather and shoe polish. It was filled with all kinds of toys, video games, clothes, and anything else that was not wanted. He saw a bit of light and started pushing through the pile of junk. As he pushed his way through, the light became more intense. As Ed cleared the last of the junk away, the light became so bright, he could barely see. As the light died
