"Jenifer, I mean now!"
Jen cringed as her mother's shrill voice cut through her ear phones. "Alright, Alright!"
Grumbling, she marched down the stairs and into the kitchen. Her mother didn't even turn from where she was chopping up carrots for dinner. "I don't understand why you can't just do things the first time I ask, Jenifer. It's not hard and as a member of this household..." Jen stuffed her ear phones in her ears and pressed play drowning out the same speech she heard last week, picked up the trash bags and left the room.
When she walked back inside her mom had moved on from yelling at her to yelling at her father about her. Jen caught an exasperated look from her father as she slipped back upstairs that clearly said, "You're in deep shit, mainly because you got me dragged into it." Whatever. She'd deal with it at dinner. With a heavy sigh she fell back onto her bed and pulled her laptop onto her stomach. "Does anyone else dread talking to their parents as much as I do?" she typed into her facebook status. Jen scrolled through her friends that were online and scanned the updates she'd already read looking for something to comment on.
"Your mom screaming at you again?" Cassie's instant message popped up.
"Isn't she always?" Jen typed back, smiling at Cassie's predictable quick response.
"Don't worry, half a year and we'll be over at UCF and we'll do whatever we want! =)"
"I can't wait! How are things going?"
"Finishing up papers, nothing exciting. you?"
"school, work. same old same old."
"How's Eric?" "He's good. =) going out tonight"
"unless your mom grounds you again"
"like that ever stopped me before ;)"
"haha have fun! I'll ttyl AP lit is calling my name."
Jen closed the conversation shaking her head and smiling, only Cassie would be excited about AP Lit.
