Yellow is the most predominant colour for taxis in Western cultures. Is that actually the case or just an image burned into our collective brains by film makers? I see many non-yellow cabs every day yet the first colour that comes to mind if the word taxi is mentioned is yellow.
I have no idea where I'm going with this. I decided to grab the first word that showed up on the creative random word generator site and go with it. Now I'm sitting here wondering what to write and if I'll get to the bottom of the page.
Although this is one page per day my entry yesterday was very short. I was tempted to keep going and complete the page but what I'd written to that point seemed finished so I left it. Today it's a matter of just keep typing and the bottom of the page will keep getting closer. When I have done scheduled writing exercises before I've always had a few days where the only motivation is the bottom of the page. It's not a bad thing because it keeps the exercise moving along. Taking a break on such a day can be dangerous as it is then easier to take a break the next day and the next thing you know it's a month later and the project gets dropped.
So, today is the first page filling day with no purpose other than to keep pressing these keys until this virtual piece of paper looks, from a distance, as though it might contain something useful or educational or wise or funny or horrific or entertaining rather than just this boring drone.
It looks like I'm more than half way there. When I used to run distances I used to take special note of the half way mark and then tell myself that getting to the end wouldn't be a problem as I'd already run that distance. Huh. Trying to fool myself. How silly is that?
So, if you are reading this and you've gotten this far congratulations and please accept my apologies.
Now go and do something worthwhile. That's what I'm going to do.
'til tomorrow ...
