Recurring Memories
The light wilts through the windowpane,
Illuminating the scratchy wooden floor.
The cracks are filled with memories;
Each one, makes me miss you more.

Each makes me remember
All of our times gone by;
Times when I could laugh,
and times when I could cry.

You meant the world to me,
And maybe even further.
But you also made me hate myself,
And that I couldn’t nurture.

And yet, I dream of you
Every, single, night.
And even now I wish that you
Would leave my weary sight.

You’re there every time I close my eyes-
Taunting me in wry disguise.
You come to me in many ways,
Lengthening my already lengthy days.

Last night you came to me,
Manifested as a map.
You were the one solution,
But also my lonely trap.

You asked me to decode your letter
Because only I would understand.
You asked me to make you better
Because I’m the only one who can.
