Rain
for being an undisciplined, freeloader. Airan took a deep breath and opened his green eyes to find a strange girl leaning over him. 'Could she see him?'
"Airan?" she says, and that one word was all it took for something inside of him to break. A wave of sounds, scents and color hit him hard, and his body felt heavier then if he had been running for three days straight. If he wasn't already sitting down, he was sure he would have collapsed. He looked up into the girl's eyes and felt afraid and vulnerable. The rain that once passed right through his body, now soaked his clothes through to his skin, sending a shiver down his spine. He couldn't keep the warm tears from rolling down his cheeks.
"W-who are you?" he finally was able to choke out. Who was this girl that could see him despite his ghost like form? This girl who cleared the fog from his mind that he never noticed before, why did he have the urge to reach out to her in such a vulnerable state.
"I'm Alice," she says smiling, offering him her hand, "Lets get you dried off." Airan accepted the help to stand, noticing he wasn't much taller then her as she moved in closer so they could share her umbrella. He let her lead him across the street, never letting go of her hand. She made him feel like a child again, helpless, and needing her protection. Every step he took made him feel nauseous and dizzy, but he kept moving ignoring his exhaustion. He watched in silence as Alice ushered him through the front door of the house she shared with four others. Once inside she collapsed her umbrella, and tossed her damp backpack on the living room couch, letting go of his hand only briefly. Then with a smile she lead him through her house despite him being dripping wet, they climbed the stairs to a small bathroom.
"Why don't you take a shower and warm up a bit," Alice says reaching under the sink, then pulls out two towels. She sets them on the counter, then moves to the small enclosed shower, turning on the water for him. "I'll find you some dry clothes in the mean time," she says, then walks out of the room closing the door behind her, leaving Airan alone with his thoughts.
