I woke up freezing cold. I sat up, disoriented, and took in my surroundings. I was in my bathroom. How strange. What was I doing here? I was also still in my towel from last night. Something wet was touching my fingers. When I looked down I saw a puddle of red liquid and some of it was on my arms and fingers. It was a small puddle but I could still smell the metallic scent of blood. Was I bleeding? If I was, where was it coming from?
After standing, my towel still wrapped tightly around my body, I walked to my bathroom mirror. A gasp escaped my mouth. A single purple ring covered my neck. A bruise.
That's when it all came back to me. My own brother choked me until I passed out. What was his problem?! I don't even remember!
When I turned to the side, something caught my eyes. Smeared blood. But it was something more. On the side of my upper arm,'J.C.M' was carved into my skin. Not very deep but deep enough to make a scar the shape of the letters. Jake carved his initials into my freaking arm! He marked me as if I were his territory.
I shivered.
That couldn't be normal.
In my bedroom, the clock on my nightstand read, '8:00am'. I was already late for school. I considered skipping but I remembered I promised Kyle I'd be there today. He would be worried if I didn't show up.
Letting out a frustrated noise from the back of my throat, I picked out an iris blue colored scarf and wrapped it around my neck. I wore a purple tank top and a black leather jacket with a pair of skinny jeans. Hopefully I didn't look odd with a scarf. It was only mid-October.
I arrived at school in the middle of second period. Parker was the only one in that class with me.
"Hi," I murmured, sitting down beside him.
"Wow, hi. I didn't know you would be coming today. I shrugged.
"I promised Kyle I would be here today."
"When did you talk to him?" He asked curiously.
"I...ran into him yesterday." I said. The teacher was glaring at us now so we stopped talking. Twenty minutes later, class let out and I walked toward third without Parker. I was greeted by Johnny and Luke.
"Hey, you're back!" Luke exclaimed, standing from his desk to hug me. I've learned that Luke is a very touchy person. He's always touching me somwhow. "Parker told us you had the flu."
Johnny gave me a curious look.
"What's with the scarf?" He would be the one to point it out.
"Isn't it stylish?" I tried. He shrugged.
"I don't know anything about fashion." He sat down and Luke let go of my hand as the teacher walked in and told us to sit.
