Chapter One: A Crimson Christening
Red. That's how my life ended and where my immortality began. It was 23 years ago to this day that they found me in that bar. 23 years of pain and suffering that could've been avoided had i just taken the advice the bartender gave and left earlier that night. It was still night when i did leave that god forsaken bar maybe sometime in the A.M. but still dark definitely too dark, too dark for a drunk and washed up marine to notice someone following him.
Never mind the whole back story that can come some other time. This is about the here and now where the team and I just got back from an unfortunate mission we lost 3 of our own but the other side lost more, so much more. We infiltrated their covenant about 7 hours ago doing what we've been trained to do since our "inception". An elite team with specific abilities that even other vampires cant detect us when we don't want them to. We had taken down seven of the Sacred's before they finally noticed us. Yea, I know seven is a measly number for an elite team to take out before we had to high tail it out of there but when you consider theres only 173 err... make that 166 of them and their one of the most powerful covenants in this stupid war then seven is a pretty good number.
That wasn't the point of this either but I had to clear a few things up so you'd understand at least a little bit of how our newest recruit must feel right now. He's only 14 but after tonight he's definitely proven himself. The Eldest sickly old bastards they are, were right to choose him. This was his "Christening" a little process we all go through when were first turned if we survive then we choose our true name and hopefully make a name for ourselves like this kid did tonight. I mean taking out 2 Phantom's isn't an easy task even for one of their own but for a newbie to do it? Amazing, simply amazing.
"Malissa we should probably head on back, the kid has a few things to do."
"Yeah, your right Ardy, lets go move out people" Malissa said over the din of cars and people above the sewer.
As everyone was starting to pack up the kid walked up to Ardy,
"Hey Ardy I've been thinking about this all night and i still don't know what name I'm gonna choose. How did you choose yours?"
