“You will go to your chambers!” He bellowed, his fists shaking with uncontrollable rage. I almost held a small degree of pity for my Father, he was so lost within Amaranth he could barely hold onto the emotions he did feel. Part of me hoped I would never become what he is. But, even his outburst didn’t deter me for long, I still walked brusquely to the door, before pushing it open and staring back with a smart look. I could see every other vampire in attendance was looking up at me with exasperated expressions. y
“I don’t think I will, Father…I will probably be going to hell,” My laugh was caustic and several gasps of shock were heard from the audience. Father glared, but said nothing; his eyes reverted to the electric blue of all vampires. He shook his head slightly, before turning away, I could still catch his small smile however.
But, I had a job to do, and I would do it well.
Making my way to my chambers to gather my weapons, I admired the architecture of the castle. High ceilings, stained glass windows showing biblical scenes, candle sconces lined the walls. It was beautiful, and it always managed to take my breath away.
I came to the oaken double doors that guarded my chambers, throwing them open, I took in my room. The black silk canopy over my bed was pulled close and a fire roared in the massive stone hearth, the black furs that covered the floors had been shaken out and the curtains were drawn. Wine and chocolates were laid out on a table nearby. I stepped into my room, running my toes through the soft werewolf pelts, looking over everything, feeling utterly embarrassed. Apparently, Father had my room cleaned out, thinking I would be bringing company back to my room.
All my weapon cases were cleaned and polished, the tapestries had been pressed with hot irons. I had to admit, everything looked immaculate, it was the reason why all this had been done which sullied my mood. Father only wanted an heir, despite my words to him in the Grand Hall, I knew the reason he wanted me to give him an heir. I was a turned vampire, I was born human and given immortality, he wanted a born vampire for his true heir…not me, despite being his direct progeny. If I had a child, he would skip me when he chose to relinquish the throne…or it’s in his will in case he died.
