The next day I woke up, smiling at the sun shining in from my window. I looked at my phone and saw it was 8:00 am. I hopped out of bed and threw on a black skirt and a ruffly, white shirt. I slipped my feet into cherry red heels and walked downstairs. Smells of bacon, french toast, biscuits, and grits reached my nose. I grinned, and walked down stairs. "Happy Birthday, Sage!" my mother yelled, hugging me. "I see you are already getting ready for tonight, are you? You're so impatient!" she laughed. I sat down as Jazmine and Aliane came down. "Hold up! This food is for us, right?" Ali said, her mouth watering. "Afraid it's not. Remember, it IS Sage's birthday. I'm cooking you two some grits and eggs!" Both the girls groaned and sat down. "HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIG SISTER. I LOVE YOU!" I said, sarcastically. "Yeah, happy birthday." Ali muttered. I glared at her, and began to devour my food, making sure not to get any on my clothes. Luke and Hayden walked in. "Hey mom, we're gonna go play video games!" my brother yelled running upstairs. Before Hayden left, he said "Happy Birthday, Sage." and winked at me. I blushed and bit my lip. Aliane and Jazmine stared at me, as if their eyes were lasers. "What?" I asked, curious. "He totally likes you." Ali said. I shook my head. "Even if he does like me, I don't like him." Deep down, I knew that I was lying. "Than why did you blush, hm?" Jazmine asked, leaning towards me. My eyes widened. "Because it was a sweet gesture." They both giggled and ate the rest of their breakfast. Tap, tap, tap! I looked to the right to see my hedgehog scampering to the table. She, Melody, looked up, obviously begging for food. "Aw. You can't eat any of this! But I have some chicken for you!" I said, smiling. Once Jazmine got one glance at Melody she squealed. "Oh my GOSH! She is soo cute! Where'd you get her?" I laughed. "Er, I don't know. I got her for Christmas. You'll have to ask my mom." I picked Melody up and brought her upstairs, along with the chicken I was going to give her. I poured the little pellets in the bowl and gave he the chicken after.
