Possible New Books
first book (his personal danger) lead to a lifestyle change where he gets into a line of work that helps others. Could be P.I., detective. Could be inner city benevolent worker. Could be a preacher. Something to think about!

Here are the possibilities with regard to protagonist. If I choose to have a preacher, it would be unrealistic for a preacher to get in dangerous situations, or to counsel those who do. Instead, the books would have to be more character driven. Not my style (don't like to read them, and am not as confident I could do a good job writing them). However, it might just work, and is something to consider.

Second possibility, the Private Eye. I could just have a detective do-gooder, using the Christian morality as a means of dealing with occasional evil doers and ne'er do wells. In doing so, could emphasize pro bono work, looking to help out the unfortunate, and the inevitable scrapes that will come from shining as a light on the dingy side of humanity.

One thing I like is the idea of an elder of the church, well respected and dependable, who helps people. Would be an older guy rather than a younger man. He could have raised a family, be in his early 50's, and maybe independently wealthy or in some way have a job or occupation that allows him flexibility. Again, this allows him the flexibility of a Christian perspective, and the flexibility of occupation to land him or those he protects into some conflict or danger.

Other characters could include the other elders, which would allow for elder discussions, and talks about the welfare of members in the congregation. Wife of the protagonist who would be a kind, sympathetic and strong character on her own. Preacher as well, (possibly), with some insight regarding the preaching of the gospel. But, it seems best to have the conflict and major plot line to be outside of the "church" realm, and the references to be church to be for the purpose of gaining insight into the protagonists character, and to allow him to gain input from others.

This kind of a scenario would allow for an entire series of books centered on the protagonist, and would allow the development of other characters. To do it I think I would need to do my due diligence, and prepare some full character studies before beginning the process of writing the book. So, next time, lets do some character studies, and come up with some names!
