The sky was a charcoal gray. As far as the eye could see there was nothing but barren emptiness, the land a simple reflection of the sky above. The cracks in the dry ground lay there like dead snakes. All the living things in the desert were under the pressure to live and to see another sunrise. Most of them would not make it through the day and there would be others who'd be too surprised to find the battle that they faced to live for one more day. The animals could sense the changes coming and they knew that things would never be the same once the changes too hold.

The village was beyond the mountains and the people in the village also felt the change coming. The skies were like color of rotting sewage with a smell that reminded one of hot summer days when there was no respite from the heat. Parents called their children from home early and people started collecting supplies in case there was not enough to survive whatever was coming. Afterall, what more does a man need, except to keep a roof over his head and a warm body to curl up against. The ancient tribe thought that the monotone people were pretty useless and the shamans of the tribe had made sure of the ideas that the people were asked to believe.
