Rainy Days
Rainy days are meant for soup, naps, and movies while laying under heavy down comforters with your best friend or lover. Rainy days are meant for reflecting on the reasons why the world is so sad -- why you are so sad. Rainy days are meant for self-indulgence, self-exploration, meditation, and self-acceptance. Rainy days are meant for baking, and dance-parties, and love. Rainy days are good for your cool rain boots, brightly colored umbrellas, and slippery rain coats. Rainy days are my favorite days, because everyone else is just as ready to accept their utter disappointment with the day as I am.

Rainy days are always filled with wet socks and frizzy hair, dreary looks and quiet stares. Rainy days mean squeaky shoes, frantic cats, puddle jumping, and sopping mats. Rainy days have that bluish haze that contrasts so well with the brightly colored leaves on the trees. Rainy days are full wishes for sunshine, and waterproof clothing. Rainy days are full of cursing at open car windows, and leaky roofs. Rainy days make me think of you.

Rainy days mean that wet streak up your back from riding your bike. Rainy days mean no open spots in the parking lots. Rainy days mean that everyone will come to class looking like drowned rats. Rainy days mean no practice with metal bats. Rainy days are full of endless reading. Rainy days mean epic nights full of thunder and lighting. Rainy days are perfect for writing.
