Saturday October 23, 2010. Today was a milestone. I awoke at eight a.m. to find the two girls behind the closed door of Zoe's room which is adjacent to ours. I slowly pushed the door open and the two girls looked up. Kate was in the wooden chair to Zoe's kindergarten desk and Zoe was standing next to her, leaning up against her sister keeping her stable as they both worked. They were each coloring opposing pages of the gigantic pony coloring book. Zoe had retrieved her sister from the crib in the next room and found a quiet activity they could both share. Zoe had also closed the bedroom door to dampen the excited sounds of the girls playing this morning. With this new independence, the girls have achieved individual milestones. Zoe has taken on a more mature role as a big sister and Kate has learned to trust her sister on a new level.
