She arrived at the address. Along the street, women in brightly colored dresses and elderly men sat talking, recounting the gossip they'd heard on the news. Lately, it seemed the prophecy was the only thing on people's minds and lips. It was difficult to find anyone who cared to talk about anything else, understandably.

The stark white of the stucco building marked 528B was offset by a wooden door, brightly painted orange. Sasha knocked, and was greeted by a man who looked like he stood about half as tall as her own six-foot frame.

"Jorge?" she inquired.

"Sí?"

"Necesito un guia a Chichen Itza. Puede ayudame, por favor?" Please, please help me, she mentally begged. She produced a clump of bills, nearly 300 pesos, and saw his eyes light up as she pressed it into his hand.

"Sí. Claro." He motioned for her to follow him to the old beat-up blue Volkswagen parked by the curbside, and the journey with destiny began.

The road to Chichen Itza was long and arduous, with narrowly winding roads that passed precariously along the cliffs and terraces of the lush green mountains.
