Under pressure 2
To my husband I suggest he goes first getting ready for bed in our shared bathroom. We obviously can't get ready together, Mr. and Mrs. Smith style. That would be too weird so we take turns. There is pressure when I go first because my get-ready-time is much longer then his. So significantly longer in fact, he did not mention it until on our honeymoon. Yes, a thread of judgement trips me on my way into what should be a very relaxing time.

Brushing teeth, brushing hair, washing face etc. These are well practiced moves that are unique to everyone. I have the 2 minute brush your teeth time down perfectly to where I don't need a timer any more. The teeth are always brushed first and then the face wash, why? The water has a chance to heat up faster in which to wash your face because you have to run it to brush your teeth. There is a system and it works, but it does take some time.

Contrary to what my husband thinks, I am not jealous of his 2 minute and done routine. See his goal is to go to bed quickly and just check the boxes next to each get-ready task. My goal is to remove the craziness of the day, pamper myself a little bit, wash away the thoughts that could keep me up all night. Take deep breaths and enjoy the warm water rushing over my face and hands. My whole point is to let go of the day's pressures, yet going first somehow pressures me into moving quickly. I skip steps so I gain a triumph bragging that I shortened my time. The whole system is ruined I say.
