Does Not Suffice
The place is too quiet, the table cloth too white for her taste. Her eyes dart around the room as she bites into her knuckle. She doesn’t pay attention to the woman sitting across from her, but her knee hops under the table, shaking it between them. No matter how hard she tries, the woman can not ignore as her wine almost spills, and finally confronts the nervous girl.

"Sophie?" He own name startles her, making her bite a bit hard into her soft flesh. She lets out a gasp and quickly places her hands into her lap. Her glassy blue eyes are wide as the taste of her own copper blood fills her mouth.. But she acts as though nothing has happened, finally looking at her sister. "Lydia." She returns, licking her lips and hoping there’s no blood crawling up the cracks between her teeth as she smiles. By her sisters stony face tell her her teeth are pearls.

The typical question comes up. "Are you okay?" she asks, the concern is there, but for Sophie its lost all meaning, she's heard that question more than enough over her eighteen years. She just nods as the waiter comes up, offering a small distraction to her picky sister. "A steak, rare, with a side salad. No dressing please." She mimics the words coming from her sister’s mouth, Sophie could order for her, its been the same since they were young, always the same food, same clothes, same music. Lydia will never change.

With Sophie’s savior gone she avoids her sisters gaze again, staring into her lap. Her own blood stains the stark white napkin. She couldn’t give it back now, how disgusted they would be be her actions. She hides it in her purse, but she’s caught by her sister yet again.

"You aren’t even listening, are you?" She asks in a harsh whisper, "Are you Sophie?" More a mother’s tone than a sister’s, she still doesn’t meet her gaze. "I was asking how you’ve been, i feel like your not even living at home." Truth was Sophie tried her hardest to do exactly that, spending as much of her time with min and just out of the house as possible

"Really, Im fine. Its not like you can talk, you're gone just as much as I am." Her words have more bite than they intended, though they hold a partial truth. Yes, her sister was usually gone, but she worked full time, and attended college part time, she had reasons to be busy. Sophie on the other hand is finishing up her senior year with enough credits and a total of three classes on her schedule. She can't even remember the last time she did her homework outside of class.
