I'll never forget last Friday. It was the day I found out I was not going to receive a paycheck over the summer because accounting screwed up. The white envelopes holding our checks were neatly sticking out of everyone's mailboxes but mine. Interestingly, the knot tied in my stomach at the same time my heart sank. Without words, my face told a story of despair. Not one to spew my personal business about, I suddenly felt tears spilling down my face and heard myself say, "What am I supposed to do?" Within seconds everyone in the office knew my personal business. Wish I could rewind that scene, but it's too late - now everyone knows I am not fiscally sound.
