Dear God
“Emily, you are late.”
Emily turned around to look at her boss, then over his shoulder to the clock. It was eight thirty-two.
You are an ass.
“I am sorry Dick.”
“Well, I might be willing to overlook your indiscretion, in return for a favor or two,” he said as he let his eyes drop to ogle her breasts.
The guy made her sick. As if she would ever be into a balding ass hole who had harassed her from day one. If only she could find another job, but with the economy the way it was, she would be lucky if she could find a job as a waitress.
“I am sorry Dick, it will not happen again,” she said tersely, acting as if she had not heard his suggestion.
“Yes well make sure that it does not.”
As she turned back around to walk to her office she could feel his eyes on her back side, but tried to walk calmly, if a quickly to her office, where she could hide away behind a closed door.
Emily closed the door quietly behind her before sitting down at her desk. she put her briefcase on the floor, and let her head fall into her hands. She sighed. Where was she going in life? Emily grabbed a piece of computer paper from the printer, and a pen from the drawer.

Dear God,
What am I doing? I turn thirty next week and I am no happier then I was when I started writing to you. I used to think that maybe I was just suffering from teenage angst, but I am far past my teenage years, and still as disappointed with myself and life I was at fifteen.

She stopped and looked at what she just wrote. She was disappointed with herself, and her life. Things that were hers and hers alone. How could she have been so blind. She had been sitting around writing letters, waiting for her life to get better. She had not done anything to make it better. How could she have been so stupid. She needed to make her life better, not wait for it to get better.
