The man put his left foo down on the concrete.His eyes darted from side to side in his skull.He exhaled deeply and began to walk down the alley. He heard soft footfalls behind him and began to walk faster.Very soon he began to run. Heart pounding in his chest faster, and faster.He heard sounds from all directions a cry from here, an angry hiss there.He wasn't being just followed.The man was being pursued.The noise was growing louder.Pounding in his ears, drowning his thoughts in a sea of hissing and whispers. The man fell to the ground.The man screamed as something grabbed his legs and dragged him into the darkness of the shadowy alleyway.
The gangly teenager was slammed into the wall.
"Alright, you little worm" Hissed Skylar Grenbeck. A gorilla of a boy with a bad eye.
"Where,is, my Money!"
"I, don't have it"screeched Tobey Matheson coughing blood. He had sever broken ribs and a borderline concussion that made his head scream with pain.His vision was going in and out of focus.His tongue was bleeding, his speech was slightly slurred. He had bit it in bracing for the impact with the wall. Skylar Greenbeck roared "I'll kill you, you little punk!"He pulled a switch out of the pocket of his leather jacket,it's blade speckled and crusted with dried blood. Nobody expected the sound of the police sirens.Tobey was dropped by his attacker.
"Screw You Matheson, I'll see you around" Skylar growled.Tobey began to do something he swore to himself he would never do.Tobey Matheson started to cry. He struggled to get to his feet. Whipping his bloody nose with a sweating left hand he cried like a baby. He could barely walk as he made his way back to the apartment building. He passed out listening to his mother's screams of terror. The nerves in his chest never recovered completely about a month later. He was walking home from school when he first met those mysterious people. Passing the graffitied walls of the alley where he was beaten months previous. He passed the time by reading the various incomprehensible messages. In red paint on wall the word SUCKER was written. On another wall the phrase "ASHES TO ASHES AND DUST TO DUST" was written in scrawling white spray paint.There was allot of crime in this city.The sad thing was it was Toby's home town. a coke can rolled out from an alley.He picked up and examined the dented can.
