the rooms in the hotel and motels are simple. shaker simple: mattresses for each person held off the ground by wooden frames, simple set of drawers with a mirror over it, a wash table with a basin, and hooks lining the walls. the walls and ceiling are white washed with one light fixture attached to the ceiling. the floors are painted with a blue lacquer, making the wooden slats smooth and soft. the beds come in many sizes, depending on the room, but all are equally comfortable.
one doesn't spend much time in their room for two reasons. the first is because the room doesn't allow it. there are no plugs for computers or anything electronic in any of the rooms, nor if the light fixtures sufficient for late night reading. the second is because one doesn't want to be in their room. the windows offer great views of the outside, and of the water. there are so many things to do outside the hotel that no one wants to be stuck inside. the weather is always decent, if not absolutely wonderful.
