So why is it that humanity strives for a perfection that doesn't exist? Why is it that every supermodel and celebrity gets our praise when most billboards are so digitally distorted that the image is practically alien? We diet, cake our faces in numerous brands of makeup, workout, and for what? To be the equal of an image that isn't humanly possible? What is WRONG with us?
It's high time for us to see that we are perfect the way we are. We shouldn't strive to be something that we aren't. We shouldn't try to change what we look like for the sake of anybody other than ourselves. It's a ridiculous, endless circle that needs to be broken, and it needs to be broken soon.
Now I'm not saying that dieting, makeup, and working out are bad things. They aren't. Some dieting is good, especially the ones that healthily cleanse the body of toxins. That's something that can be a new page in life, and a step in the right direction. Makeup is - to me at least - simply something fun for every day. I don't put it on because I feel I need to, I do it because I want to, because it's a pick me up. And working out is definitely a good thing. It's healthy, and can create a good self-image, as well as helping sustain a healthy, happy mind and body.
It doesn't make sense that people are trying to fix things that clearly aren't broken. We see ourselves as something that needs changing, fixing, and perfection. We don't see that as we are, we are already perfect in our little ways. Happiness comes from within, it is something that we have to provide for ourselves. Other people can come along and help us with it, but they can not provide us with it. And for that matter, what makes us thing that looking any different will make us happy either?
