Write a scene showing a man and a woman arguing over the man’s friendship with a former girlfriend. Do not mention the girlfriend, the man, the woman, or the argument.
I never mean to overhear, but sometimes people seem to want to be heard. Yes, obviously it wasn't a good idea. And yes, after such a long time a friendship should be possible, But, I agree it's still a recipe to fall into the same on and off again pattern. But I also agree that it might be harmless. I think we all understand this scenario, it's all too common. I understand! I feel like sharing. It should be okay for me to share my unsolicited advice shouldn't it? since it's all been shared with me without my consent.
Write a short scene set at a lake, with trees and shit. Throw some birds in there, too.
I just needed it to be quiet for one freaking second. The very lights in New York City just seem to shout at you. So I took the metro north and found trees and shit. That's supposed to calm people down. Help them slow down and take a deep breath, am I right? Why we believe that, I don't know, but I figured it was worth the shot. I walked down a clearly marked path -lest I be eaten alive by a possum- and eventually make it to a an overlook over a lake. I thought it was weird that I was on a landing with people and their tourists hats snapping photos about the lake while reading fun facts about it to each other. Really it was no different from NYC. But it WAS open. And I did hear birds chirping, something I don't think I've heard in the city. So I sat down and stared and thought about what a waste of time these two hours had been.
