A/N: Rough draft. Not thoroughly thought out so please bear with me =] My challenge is a fairy tale every week for the next 4 months. So this is the first one.

Chapter 01: Arrival

Once upon a time there lived a princess in a Kingdom of Roses. She lived there with her father and 4 other sisters, all older and prettier than she considered herself. Everyday the young princess would walk down to the rose gardens to read and sit in the sunlight. She always sat in the bench nearby her mother's favorite rose bush in memory of her mother. She loved it there and always took in the long scent of the roses before she cracked her book open.

One day while she was in the rose garden, a messenger ran passed her and up to the castle. She looked up from her book. With all the commotion, she stood up and brushed her dress off before walking towards the throne room.

The messenger was kneeling before her father when she arrived. She steadied and hid herself behind a tall column. Peering in, she saw the messenger. He was not from our kingdom. Our messengers wore the rose and red coat of arms. No, he was from a neighboring Kingdom of Wolves. He wore the robes of a messenger but his colors were those of grey and dark blue.

"I've come to collect the bouquet that was agreed upon by my king and yourself," he said. He removed his barret and pressed it against his chest.

She studied her father. His face quizzical but her smirked at the messenger. "It has been quiet sometime since that agreement was made but be patient messenger. I will have the bouquet ready in a fortnight." The messenger nodded. The king clapped his hands and summoned his daughters.

The five girls lined up before their father. The messenger was now off to the side watching what the king would do.

"My daughters," the King began. "The time has come for one of you to be betrothed. Before doing so, you will all create bouquets of Roses from the royal gardens. You bouquets will be gathered and sent to the Kingdom of Wolves for judging. You will have a two to select the best roses and create the most beautiful."

The girls talked amongst themselves all excitedly. Being much older, they have only wished for romance and love. The youngest however sighed at her young age of 16 and nodded. She didn't want to be married off at all. All of her books have spoken of great loves but never of marriage between two strangers. She held her book tighter to herself until they were dismissed. Her sisters all ran towards the rose garden in excitement. She only walked slowly with her head down towards her favorite bench.

A/N: Like I said before. I have no idea what's going on in my head. I'm just writing it. Sorry for the grammical mistakes and for the lack of names. I'll go back and re-write as soon as I get the story down!
