A fundamental conflict becomes immediately prevalent in the relationship between a mentor and their mentee. This relationship is essentially a relationship of symbiosis, that of the mutual variety; although it may display facets of commensalism or parasitism, thus undermining the bond that is manifested between these two individuals. But as individuals increase in sagacity and accumulate knowledge, they increasingly utilize it towards their liking, these individuals become particularly adept at noticing the imperfections that characterize the individual they once held in such an esteemed respect, thus devaluing their position.
It is then that the mentee arrives at the inevitable crossroads: Shall they persevere in continuing as a disciple of this once highly regarded individual, or shall they assert their independence, ultimately becoming their own instructor?
