The Globe and Mail always provides some fodder for intellectual discussion even if the articles themselves seem written by students who were unable to pass high school English; such is the rush to get articles posted I suppose.

Returning from my digression, the article stated the need for Canadians to reduce their debt load. Of course, there were cries in the comments section complaining about how banks force us into debt and the lack of education with regards to financial planning. These complaints are common whenever such an article emerges but it makes me wonder why people cannot place the blame where it truly lies; upon themselves.

Schools are frequently faulted for not teaching students the things they need in real life. The irony is that these real life lessons are available freely almost everywhere. The library is teeming with self-help books and guides to thriftful living. The internet offers a plethora of websites that cater to finacial
