Happiness is not promised. It never appears in its complete iteration; its significance or sanctity is always diminished by a convenient interruption (rather convenient, might I add); for example, one might happily engage in eternal hours of watching television, but those hours are incessantly bombarded by advertisements and promotions, surreptitiously emanating the message: "Purchase our product!" I believe that it is the main objective of corporate, private enterprise to maximize profit while minimizing satisfaction.
One must consistently work to be happy. Happiness is solely derived from the product of my hands; my arduous toil; my actions which I hope shall eventually culminate in an end goal. For me, happiness is not derived from mere romantic sentiments, as no member of the opposite sex could possibly grant me or bestow onto me the type of love that I deserve, save perhaps that of my father.
