That funny. I facepalm myself and wonder how Amber and I came to be best friends. Oh, yeah, I didn't want to be a total loner...It's not that I dislike Amber, is just that we can be very different at times. I'm the smart one, not that I show it around my friends, but she's a total ditz. I'm the blonde one and she's the brunette. You can see why I would take offend to blond jokes.
I look for my vintage volkswagen bug and spot it next to a Mercedes. I smile, noticing how many Mercedes and BMW are in the parking lot. There are even some of the new, convertible bugs too, and I smile because my bug is one of a kind at this school. I'm proud of myself too, considering it was a stick-shift. God knows how many times I almost took out the mail-box.
The hot Arizonian sun beats down on me and my car. It has to be at least a hundred degrees today. If everyone was going to Fashion Square, I could go to Old Town and swing by my workplace. Perfect. I can take Jenna, my car, for a ride. I pull away from Desert Mountain High School's parking lot, and drive to Old Town. I crank up the music, and pull down the roof of my car, letting the wind blow my hair back.
I let out a sight ouf relief. I hate school registration day, it sucks the life out of me. Finally, I pulled into Blender Bean Bliss. Yes, that's the name of the cafe I work at. Fancy, ain't it?
Before I open up the doors, someone runs at me and tackle-hugs me. Do people have no disregards about personal space anymore.
"Andie." Karen's baby blue eyes scan my face. "It's been so long!" She fake-sobs and I laugh, hugging her back. This is a tradition of ours. Greet each other with "It's been so long" or "Look at how old you've gotten", even if we saw each other the day before.
"Oh,my," Karen says, her sweet southern accent filling her voice. "Let's go inside, it's so hot outside."
I trail behind her, breathing in the AC as we walk inside, and I eye one of the many bean bags around the coffee place. The place is set up so there are tables set up here and there with comfortable stools and chair. And then in the middle there's a big, comfy, colorful couch. It's pink and yellow. But my favorite are the bean bags which is where you go read a book if you like, it's recommened to put a lid on your drinks if you plan on sitting there. Did I mention that the places has book shelves from corner to corner?
Man, I loved work.
Karen says she's taking a break, and we order two coffees. She puts a crapload of sugar and cream in her coffee. Wimp. I don't know what people in Alabama put in her coffee, but in Wisconsin, we drink it black and with nothing. We're tough
"So how did registration go?" She asks, and tosses her red hair back.
