My story begins with one of the most common, most used means of communication in todays world- an sms.
It was a boring evening and there i was, sprawled over my couch, in front of the idiot box. There was nothing worth watching, which proved why it was called the idiot box in the first place. There was nothing a 17 year old girl like me could watch at that time. I cursed the stupid channels, switched off the television and was just about to go to my room, when it happened.
Beep Beep!
My cell phone, that had been lying on the table next to the sofa.
Probably Helen, I thought to myself and picked up my cell. On the screen were the words: New Message - Unknown
I frowned. I never gave my cell number to any unknown person. That was something I had learnt from mom even before I had learnt to walk- Have nothing to do with strangers!
Oh well, I opened the sms and was, well, shocked.
It said: Hi, Miraya.if u dnt rpl 2 me nw,ul regret it l8r.
I stared at the message, completely stumped. Should I reply or no? And even if I should, what the hell should i type? And what was all this rubbish about regrets?
I thought for a while and decided to reply.
'Hi,' I typed. 'who's dis?'
I waited with bated breath after I had sent the message. A minute later, my cell sounded, making me jump. It was Unknown, again.
'Gud.u rplied.nw come out of ur house.ul find a letter ther.'
My eyes nearly popped out. I was alone at home. It wasn't such a good idea to go out of my house that way. And yet, I was curious. It got the better of me.
I looked through the peephole. No one was in sight. Cautiously, I opened the door.
Whoa! There, right in front of my main door was an envelope. I bent to pick it up. It was a yellow cover, with my name Miraya written on it in a beautiful handwriting.
Without hovering near the door for long, I ran back in and placed the letter on the table. I sat before it and with shivering hands, opened it.
