case. "The Central Daily has put together a listing of cold cases by decade. Analyzed that data and made a few observations/accusations. The father of one of the kids took up the cause making calls. Now the mayor and Councelman Jacks wants us to look into the case. I know it's cold and I know we don't have the resources for this. You guys are just going to have to suck it up and give it the old college try." Cap looked over at us and raised an eyebrow.
"Timeline?" asked Charlie.
"Come back next Monday and let me know where you are, what leads you have, and where you want to go." We stood up and looked at each other. Tall orders.
"I have 8 active and 10 going cold cases on my desk..." Sam started to stay.
"Give Stacy your files, things will get reassigned for a week." Cap put his feet down and turned to his computer. "Oh, and for reasons I am not telling you, you can and will work out of Rhoda's meeting room." Sam and Charlie left the office.
"I have the file boxes set up in Rhoda's and am getting the evidence sent over from the state lab facility." Stacy informed us as we exited the Caps office.
"Thanks Stacy," said Charlie. They walked a couple of steps and then Sam turned around.
"Were you around at that time?"
"Nope, graduated high school in 86 and joined the Corp. Was home for only a few days a year between 86 and 92."
"Okay. Know anyone that was on the force back then?"
"Rosemont might have been. Jess James was dispatching then." Stacy commented.
"Thanks," said Sam. She and Charlie made their ways to their desks. Coffee mugs in hand they headed over to Rhoda's meeting rooming.
"Hey Miss Rhoda," Sam said as he smiled at her. "Sorry we're invading your space."
"Nothing to it. I've moved over to the meeting room at the DA's till you guys get done with your thing."
"Well, then we know where to find you if we need you," commented Sam.
"Your files are along the windows. Draw the blinds when you set things out." Rhoda exits and they stare at the files. 3 deep, 6 wide and a true mountain of work.
