American Chopper Sr. vs. Jr.
I didn't become a fan of the show 'American Chopper' on the Discovery channel until the previews started showing the feud between Teutul Senior and Teutul Junior, also known as Paul Sr. and Paul Jr. It's not that I'm enamored of motorcycle choppers, altho I LOVED riding dirtbikes back in the olden days. It was my favorite thing to do and a story in itself.

But today, I'm realizing why I'm addicted to 4 hours a day of their re-runs. It's because of the well publicized father-son fued, and I need to watch the previous years of shows in order to understand the dynamic of the problems between the two.

They are in business together, building fancy choppers, both basic and theme bikes. From what the show shows us, Paulie Jr. does the majority of the design work and building. He uses resources such as Jason on the computer, who "draws" what Paulie tells him too, so the other fabricators are all on the same page. Paul Sr. jumps in mostly to yell at Junior, it seems. Evidently, Paulie comes in late ALL THE TIME, but he also works late too, alot of the time. They claim to have never missed a deadline, and Paulie, Vinnie, and Rick are often filmed working into the wee hours of the morning.

They are the epitome of a dysfunctional family for sure. There's Paul Sr., the former alcoholic. There's Paul Sr. the scapegoat, Mikey the goofball, who uses humor to defuse the fights between Sr. and Jr. There's other grown children in the family, an older boy who took over the metal business from Sr., and at one time they were not speaking. There's a daughter too, but she's rarely mentioned.

This season, the show focuses on the two separate shops, because Paulie finally got fed up and left. It seems
