Sometimes I get summer in a rut
Broken records skipping-skipping rope
Round and round she goes

Mama wants me in Michigan
Daddy says "don't let go"
Brother says to break that habit
and I say no

Tapestries hang in my mind, thoughts
dank without light
Maybe sleep is better for
dreaming of sight

Sometimes I get summer in a rut
Broken records skipping-skipping rope
Round and round she goes

On a track that leads back
to my mother's nature old and bitter
How did I get here, oh how did I get her
using my mind,
I'm losing my mind
maybe it's high time
for high tide to swill through my heart. I'm
through.
