Lightning crashed, thunder boomed, all around me was chaos. 'What the hell is going on?' I thought. This wasn't what was supposed to happen at all. A giant crack split the air and disrupted my train of thought. I decided to concentrate on staying alive for the moment and shoved all thoughts of what was and what wasn't supposed to happen out of my head.
I took off running in the general direction I thought the house should be. I wasn't entirely sure where I was going, since my knowledge of the area was all based on theory and archeological studies. But if I was right, and the landing point wasn't too far off from where we estimated, the house wasn't too far away.
Dodging hail stones the size of walnuts, I weaved my way through what I could only fathom was some kind of freak storm.
After a few minutes, the air sort of cleared up and I looked back. It looked like the storm was concentrated solely around where me and my partner had landed. As that processed through my shock ridden brain I realized I had no idea where my partner was. Had I seen him after I landed? I couldn't remember, it was all chaos and darkness.
For a moment I debated going back within range of the storm to look for him, but settled for yelling, "Jack!, Jack! Can you hear me? Are you still in there?" I didn't want to leave him behind, but there was no way I was going back in that storm. There was a slim chance I'd survive and a slimmer on that I'd find my partner in that mess anyways. For now, I needed to find The Professor and find out what was causing that storm in the first place.
I turned in a slow circle searching for the house where The Professor supposedly lived. But either I was on the wrong side of the storm, or something back home had gone wrong. I was standing in what looked like the middle of a giant alfalfa field and I couldn't see anything near me this side of the storm.
