Held
Her breath came fast as she sped down the building, the ball at her feet. She knew he was there, he always was, they were a team, they always had been. She began to feel pressured as people closed in around her, threatening to steal the precious soccer ball. From the corner of her eye, she saw his fimilar shoes, beside her, running with her, waiting for the pass he knew would come. A light tap, and the ball was in his control. One touch... two touch... he drew back his leg and the ball sailed into the corner of the goal, slipping past the defense and the keeper. He knew it had been because of her pass. He knew she had needed him. in an arc she ran, with a joyous shout, to the center of the room. And he was in front of her... hugs had been forbidden, they both knew, their feelings were illicit. So they did what they knew was allowed-- a high-five. But it was different somehow, there hands grasped together... almost like they were holding hands. She knew he thought nothing of it, he was not like her, but time slowed for her as their were a few seconds in which nothing else mattered to her but him. Then they broke away, back into the beautiful game. It was only the start of something bigger she knew... she was held.
