With a “thunk,” the small spacecraft attached to the spaceport orbiting Saturn. Roxanne took a deep breath as she was pushed back in to her seat. She wasn’t sure what to expect from this particular encounter at Saturn Station. There was a map, and she wanted it, but she didn’t want anyone else to know she wanted it.

She got up from her seat as the ship entered the Station’s space-port; light from the massive room filling the small cabin. It was not the first time she had undergone such a procedure to say the least, to her it was as customary as brushing her teeth. So, it was not the particular moment that was scaring her. Ever since she had visited the abandoned military outpost orbiting Neptune a decade earlier, she had been fascinated with abandoned and forgotten places. They gave her a sense of history, a way to see in to the past. Yet, despite her secret love for these places, there was something else about that outpost that stayed with her. Like something there was alive, or the building itself was alive.

They had left in a hurry, as patrols were on their way: Roxanne Thalia, with her 3 comrades, David, Stephen, and Samantha. The outpost still had some back-up systems operational, so, while they had to move through the corridors with oxygen masks, they didn’t have to be confined to the bulky space-suits. Each of the corridors was for the most part, rectangular, with the corners cut out to make the halls technically octagons. They weren’t the most decorative of hallways, gray metal walls, keeping the soldiers focused on the task. Each of the rooms had a specific designated purpose. They found the power-supply, the computer-hub, bunks for soldiers, and offices and planning areas. Yet to them, the prime spot was the bridge, control consoles were organized around the room all facing the large view-screen. It was there where they were resting when suddenly the lights went off and a subtle bass tone starting humming through all of the rooms. Thalia turned slowly to face Sam as they exchanged equal expressions of shock and worry.
