The sun was glaring into my eyes as I ascended the hill. I hadn't quite decided what on Earth I was doing but I knew I had to do it. My whole life had consisted of a series of predictable events as if my path was being laid out for me brick by brick. I felt a captive in my own destiny and knew I must unleash my inner chaos to defeat these chains that held me to the ground when all I wanted to do was fly. I'd left my family and friends behind on a untitled quest to discover a meaning that was currently undecipherable. I left in the black of night. Goodbyes have never been my forte and it's always been easier for me to run away than face the questioning ways of my family and friends. I hadn't decided yet if they were conspirators in my bondage of destiny or merely fellow victims to a destiny that was chosen for us without any consultation on our part. Extreme has always been my nature. I've always felt a desire to be something that seemed unattainable and now I searched for it.
The forest at the bottom of the hill may have looked ominous and forbidden to most people but to me it gleamed with the spray of new possibilities. Mortal danger has never bothered me and I've always succumbed to that idea of destiny. The idea that if it's my time to go it's my time to go. I cannot do anything about death, so instead I act out my improvised part in this play called life. As I neared the forest the ground grew consistently damper and my world seemed to be changing. The damp ground was entwined with the foggy air which was mated with the lonely trees. All these parts seemed to complement each other as if they were the setting of a man made play. I'd always had a suspicious that this world was created by something or someone for their own pleasure and this forest was just one of the many reminders of this idea. I had no clue how this creator would feel to my blazing my own path but I figured at this point I was insignificant to him/her/it. I entered the forest without any hesitation and instantly started to struggle with the age old undergrowth that seemed to hold me back trying to keep me on a path that was already laid out for me. I didn't fight this new agent of destiny but rather laughed at the undergrowth. This seemed to demoralize it because as I waged further into the forest the weeds and vines that had earlier held me back seemed to disappear and the air grew thicker with the scent of a earthy prison. It was slowly dawning on me that perhaps this forest was not a new avenue of discovery but rather another agent of this creator.
