It all started with a newly-wed couple. They were happy, and content in the small village in Northern Bordega that they called home. Their names? Aren't really all that important, she wouldn't remember them anyways when it came down to it. The name she DID know wasn't to be given to its owner until nearly two years after the couple had married. That name was Isaiah. Isaiah was their son, and he was an adorable child. Bright, green eyes inherited from his father, with dark brown curls that his mother had passed down to him. Always smiling, always cheerful. Cherubic might be the only way to describe him. He rarely cried as a baby, and seemed to be no less than the perfect child to all the members of the village.
He grew, and continued to endear himself in the hearts of those around him, and when he turned eight, his life changed forever. He became a big brother. His little sister, Hester, became his world. He adored her, doted on her, and talked about her to anyone who would listen. Because of him, Hester's earliest years were bright and sunny. Filled with smiles shared between herself and Isaiah. Little Hester shared her brother's brown hair, though hers lacked the curls he had. And she had, instead, received her mother's gray eyes.
The pair stayed close as time passed, nearly inseparable. Where one went, the other was no farther than shouting distance. Five blissful years happened this way, living their near-carefree lives happily.
In the darkest hour of the night, the village sentries didn't stand a chance at spotting the Drow sneaking up on them. Their white hair wrapped and hidden in dark cloth, they were practically invisible as they silently slew the sentries. Then began moving from house to house, taking those they wanted and killing those they didn't.
Hester awoke to Isaiah putting a finger to her lips and starting to pull her blanket over her. His motion was stopped as a narrow sword pierced him from behind, and Hester screamed. His eyes stayed open as he fell towards her. She felt a sharp strike to the back of her head, and as her vision went dark she was certain she would never wake again.
She was wrong, and though she didn't know it, she would wish she hadn't been.
She was awoken by what appeared to be a little girl about her age, although the girl had black skin with long, white hair and eerie red eyes. Dinn'quilrae, she would soon find, was the girl's name.
